Mr. Lane joins the firm with over six years of insolvency experience in corporate and personal appointments and expertise in corporate finance. At his previous firm, Mr. Lane was involved in the high-profile restructuring of Napoleon Perdis in conjunction with Simon Cathro and Andrew Blundell. Mr. Lane was the inaugural Accountants Daily 30 Under 30 winner for Restructuring and Insolvency and was a finalist in 2020 and 2021.
When asked about why he returned to insolvency, Mr. Lane advised, ‘insolvency is exciting and extremely varied, and the opportunity to start a new office in Queensland was very alluring. In insolvency and restructuring, one day, you can be working in the city to sell a client list for a finance company, and the next, you are off into the middle of Queensland at a cattle station. The ability to learn about so many different industries is great and certainly helps for a conversation starter at events.’
Mr. Lane commented ‘I am looking forward to working closely with Simon Cathro and Andrew Blundell, who are both very experienced insolvency practitioners. Having worked with Simon and Andrew in the past on a few large appointments, I understand how they work, and I look forward to working in unison again to assist clients and all stakeholders.’
‘Being the first staff member in Queensland is exciting. It allows Cathro & Partners to grow further and establish itself as a national firm. Further, after experiencing challenging business conditions in Queensland over the last few years, especially in the tourism and hospitality sectors, we are poised to assist clients and restructure where possible if we are spoken to early.’
Cathro & Partners are excited to expand their insolvency and restructuring brand into Queensland and have Declan Lane onboard.
