Cathro & Partners launches forensic accounting practice with appointment of Emma Levett

Sydney, 6 April 2026:

Cathro & Partners has today announced the launch of its forensic accounting practice, bringing independent, objective and evidence based financial analysis to complex disputes, investigations and contentious matters.

The new practice will combine deep technical accounting expertise with commercial insight to investigate irregularities, quantify loss and deliver clear, defensible opinions that withstand scrutiny.

The practice will be led by Emma Levett, who joins the firm as Forensic Accounting Principal. Her appointment marks the formal commencement of Cathro & Partners’ forensic accounting capability.

Cathro & Partners provides restructuring, turnaround, insolvency, forensic accounting and government advisory services, with a focus on helping companies, boards, financiers, legal advisers and stakeholders achieve the best possible outcome. The addition of a dedicated forensic accounting practice builds on this foundation, expanding the firm’s ability to support clients through high stakes situations.

Cathro & Partners Managing Principal Simon Cathro said the launch reflects both client demand and the firm’s continued growth.

“The addition of a forensic accounting practice is a natural evolution of our offering,” he said. “Our clients are increasingly dealing with complex disputes, regulatory scrutiny and financial uncertainty. Having a dedicated team led by someone of Emma’s calibre ensures we can provide the clarity, independence and technical expertise these situations demand.”

Ms Levett brings deep experience in forensic accounting and financial investigations, having worked with SMEs, multinational organisations and ASX listed companies across a wide range of industries. Her expertise includes corporate fraud investigations, economic loss quantification, litigation support and expert witness services.

Prior to joining Cathro & Partners, Ms Levett was Partner and Head of Forensic Accounting Services at Sedgwick, where she led complex investigations and supported civil and criminal recovery proceedings. She has also held senior roles at Procare Group and SFP Forensic London, and began her career as a financial investigator with the Australian Federal Police.

Ms Levett said the new practice is focused on delivering clarity and practical outcomes in complex situations.

“Forensic matters are often high pressure, time critical and subject to intense scrutiny,” she said. “Our role is to bring independence, rigour and clear thinking to these engagements, helping clients understand the facts, quantify their position and move forward with confidence.”

The practice will provide services across three core areas: fraud and financial investigations, expert reports and expert witness services, and litigation support and dispute resolution. It will work closely with legal advisers, insolvency practitioners, regulators and other stakeholders to deliver robust and commercially relevant outcomes.

The launch of the forensic accounting practice is effective from 6th April, 2026.
